Explanation of fees
Fees may change without notice. If there
is a discrepancy between a fee listed on the website,
and a fee quoted over the phone or in the office, the
latter fee will prevail.
Fees are based on the amount of professional time
devoted to you, not the number of people in the room
(e.g., couples sessions are not higher than individual
sessions of the same length). Psychotherapy sessions
typically last 45 or 60 minutes, but 90 minutes or 3
hours are also common. Any session length is possible.
Sessions not cancelled at least 24 hours in advance will
be charged to you as a missed appointment, unless in our
judgment there were circumstances beyond your control.
If you are hoping for insurance reimbursement, be aware
that missed appointments are not reimbursed.
Telephone calls between sessions also
involve professional time, and may be charged for the
time involved.
Telephone sessions have the same fees as in office
sessions, plus long distance or conference call charges,
if applicable.
Telephone sessions with out of state clients are
counseling sessions, not psychotherapy sessions.
Counseling sessions do not focus on the client/counselor
relationship to any significant degree, whereas
psychotherapy sessions can have a substantial focus on
the client/therapist relationship. If psychotherapy is
also needed to address your particular problems, we will
help you find a local psychotherapist.
Psychological testing fees vary, and can range up to
$1000 or more, depending on the amount of testing,
whether a report is written, how extensive the report
is, and other factors. However, short questionnaires or
tests are often scored and interpreted in session, and
provided at no charge.
Specialized services, such as sessions outside of normal
working hours, nighttime pages, testimony, deposition,
or out of office services, will likely have higher fees.
Where feasible these fees will be discussed with you in
advance. Each therapist's normal working hours vary day
to day, but are typically Monday through Friday,
sometime between the hours of 8am and 8pm.
There may be charges for activities that occur even when
you are not present, for supplies or transportation, or
for other expenses we incur on your behalf. When
feasible you will be informed in advance about estimated
charges. These charges can include: 1) case management
services, writing a letter or report, reading
documentation about you, or travel to or from our
office); 2) unusually extensive clerical services; 3)
supplies, such as books, workbooks, breathalyzers or
drug tests; 4) charges for using our driver or other
transportation services.
If we travel to meet with you, time spent
traveling is also billed. If we are out of the
office for one or more days with you, we would typically
bill for 12 hours per day plus travel expenses.

The Residence Fees
The fees listed below are for lodging
only and do not include professional services or food.
Double room:
$4,000 per month; $1,200 per week; $190
per night. In a double room the resident may be
required to move rooms (possibly more than once) during
his or her stay. However, a single room at no extra
charge is also possible.
Single room:
$6,000 per month; $1,800 per week; $280
per night.
Master Bedroom, as a single:
$8,000 per month; $2,400 per week;
$375 per night.
Food service is not provided (but food is
easily available via 3 grocery stores and about one
dozen restaurants, all in walking distance). Food
options should usually be discussed in advance. Our
dietician and personal chefs are available as desired.

How to reduce the total expense
of services
The expense of a course of
treatment at PRS can vary widely. At your initial visit,
and thereafter, we will work with you to maximize the
benefit you receive from our services.
The total expense of your services here can be reduced in
several ways. You might attend more groups and fewer
individual sessions, or have shorter individual sessions.
You might also attend more free support groups (some of
which occur in our waiting room). You can also
significantly reduce the number of sessions needed by
diligently performing homework assignments.

Should I use insurance?
The only insurance PRS
accepts is Medicare. If you have an insurance plan that
includes out-of-network benefits, you will be provided
with a superbill (containing the required CPT and
diagnosis codes) that you can submit to your insurance
company. Even though you have insurance, you may decide
not to use it. In general, information your health insurer
has about you is easily available to the entire insurance
industry, such as when you apply for new health, life, or
disability insurance.
