Collaborative Addiction Care

Our collaborative approach is influenced by the level of care you are attending, and how many individuals are involved with the treatment process. Care is most structured at the AToN Center (our residential facility), and least structured in outpatient care. However, even at the AToN Center, as your self-control increases you get more choices about the providers you work with, and your activities.

As an outpatient, if you are entirely self-paying and attending on your own, we normally establish only one condition of treatment, which is to work with our Clinical Coordinator, who oversees the treatment process. Otherwise you have, with our guidance, complete control over your schedule, services and choice of providers.

As an outpatient, when a partner, parents or another generous person is paying for all or part of your treatment, the treatment planning process is more complex. This planning process begins before your arrival, and continues throughout treatment, as a three-way negotiation between you, the others involved, and Practical Recovery. Conditions of treatment in these situations might include drug testing, required types of sessions or activities, required residence in our sober living home, a continuous schedule of supervised activities, ongoing family or couples sessions (by phone or in person), or various “performance” requirements. You continue to have full control over your schedule, services and choice of providers, once these conditions are met.

Whether residential or outpatient, if you are looking for a treatment center for your loved one, you will appreciate that our goal is to serve both the client and family/partner relationships. Most clients find our collaborative approach very appealing. We want families to understand that we work for the ultimate benefit of the entire family system. We always respect the client’s right to confidentiality, but we also facilitate healing dialogue.
