Our clinicians have extensive experience providing treatment for co-occurring disorders to those suffering from mental health and addiction issues.

At Practical Recovery, mental health and addiction treatment can be addressed together, since many of our clients are facing both issues. When treated in a coordinated way, healing both problems is more likely. We are pleased to offer state-of-the-art treatment to those suffering from co-occurring disorders.

Our expertise in co-occurring disorders, or dual diagnosis, is substantial enough that we are able to function as a full service mental health facility. Although most of our clients initially come to us for addiction concerns, often we see them at other times in their lives for help with emotional, behavioral or mental health issues. We are experienced at providing the treatment for co-occurring disorders our clients need for a full-spectrum approach to restoration and recovery.

Practical Recovery is one of the few addiction treatment facilities in the country to offer integrated treatment for co-occurring disorders – that is, professional help for both problems in one setting, at the same time and by the same team of experienced experts. Research shows that this method of treatment is associated with an increased chance of problem resolution or improvement, resulting in a better quality of life.

Because our staff has achieved such a high level of training, we can readily respond to the co-occurring disorders that commonly accompany addiction, including depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, attention deficit disorder (with or without hyperactivity), personality disorders, trauma (PTSD) and anxiety disorders.

If co-occurring disorders or problems are moderate to severe, they are often the primary focus of treatment. It’s hard for us to imagine how addiction treatment could be helpful if co-occurring disorders are not brought front-and-center during the entire treatment process. Recovery itself is often relatively easy once the co-occurring issues are adequately addressed and dealt with.
