Addictions We Treat

When is a “behavior” considered an addiction? Addiction is excessive involvement with anything that feels good. Addictions can range in severity, from minor to life-threatening. Getting help for an addiction can be a turning point in one’s life. It could be the first step towards a brighter future.

At Practical Recovery, the most common addictions we treat are related to alcohol and prescription and illicit drug abuse, but we also strive to achieve measurable success helping those who suffer from behavioral addictions such as gambling, eating, sex and other uncontrollable behaviors. If an activity or mindset of any kind becomes obsessive or interferes with a healthy and productive lifestyle, it is included in the list of addictions we treat.

Since there are so many types of addictions, and many levels of severity, it can be confusing to know if there is a problem, and if it can be fixed. That’s why at Practical Recovery, we take each person’s unique situation, personality, lifestyle and goals into account with the addictions we treat so that each client receives the help they need on an individual basis. Our self-empowering non-12-step recovery process gives each individual the tools they need to break free from their addiction and go on to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Another unique characteristic of Practical Recovery is our ability to offer help in other areas that may be contributing to an addictive behavior. Are there underlying mental or cognitive issues such as depression, bi-polar disorder, OCD or other challenges that, if discovered, could be dealt with at the same time to bring speedier and more successful recovery? We are able to determine if this is the case. As one of the few addiction treatment facilities in the country to offer dual diagnosis, our experts have years of experience in discovering the root of a person’s addictive behavior. This is vital to complete recovery, not only from the addiction itself, but also from the underlying cognitive issue(s) that could be causing the addiction.

The addictions we treat are as unique as the individuals afflicted with them. Understanding that each person requires a personalized plan for recovery, Practical Recovery offers a wide range of services to assure that our clients’ goals for restoration are successfully achieved.
