Are you interested in the self-empowering approach, but having a hard time finding it? Although SMART Recovery is free and available, very few in-network providers use the self-empowering approach. This class will educate you about the major components of this approach, and how to apply it for yourself. How self-empowering! The class is taught by Dr. Horvath and limited to 10 students. Dr. Horvath was the president of SMART Recovery for 20 years, has helped establish 35 SMART meetings in San Diego, and is the author of Sex, Drugs, Gambling & Chocolate: A Workbook for Overcoming Addiction

Participants in the class receive a free copy of the workbook, and are eligible to attend Practical Recovery’s free weekly continuing care group (for current and former clients). They also have a 15 minute phone call with Dr. Horvath prior to the class, to prepare them for how to benefit most from the class, and a 15 minute call a week or more after the class, to help them follow through on what they learned.
